Step Three of the 5W Sewing Profile, "When will I sew"?

Establishing the time and sticking to your schedule, the third step of the 5W Sewing Profile, can be the most critical step of all.

Sometimes we who have a home based business feel we have an extra 24 hours in our day. Please, may I impress upon you "DO NOT" start with that mindset. It is a sure killer for your sewing business.

"Clearly" establishing your work schedule

Several factors will go into establishing your work schedule, for instance if you have a shop your hours will pretty much be determined, 9-5 or somewhere in what vicinity.

If you are home based careful planning and several factors will determine your schedule in order for you to accommodate everyone concerned

1. Do you like sewing in the morning or evening?
2. Is you sewing room situated to where you need morning sun for better lighting?
3. Do you have children to consider?
4. What are your responsibilities at home other than your sewing business?
6. Do you have an employee and when will they work?

Only you can determine the best time schedule for your sewing business. I recommend if you have a family consider a sit down with the members. Let them know why you will be starting a business and ask them to be respectful of your time. After all everyone will reap the benefits.

You are a business owner treat is as such and always respect yourself as a professional.

Most important is the "deadline time frame". When giving a client a deadline, it is very important to the integrity of your business to keep that deadline whenever possible.

Make your time projections wisely, make sure you factor in all possibilities that may arise in order to complete any particular job.

Until the jobs roll in, and roll in they will, this is the time to establish creditability for your sewing business and give the best value to your clients.

Remember the Customer is always right do what they want and you will be in business for a very long time.

Now that we have established the, who will be sewing; what you will be sewing; when you will be sewing; we now have to find the place. The fourth W in the 5W Sewing Profile, Where will I be sewing?
