Write A Basic Business Plan and Define Your Sewing Business

Writing an effective basic business plan will bring definition and clarity, to your sewing business, especially if you intend to apply for a grant or loan.

I suggest even if you are not applying for a loan a well laid basic business plan will keep you on track and explain your business, especially to you.

Now that may not make sense explaining your business to you, but I have know others who starting a business thought they could take in every job that comes along; before long they were so overwhelmed they closed shop before they got started.

So in the long run defining your business with a well thought out business plan will prevent frustration, overwhelm and give you self confidence to succeed.

HOME BASED BUSINESS- SIMPLE PLAN

1. Introduction-Introduce your business to yourself, what is it all about, give a short description. Include the location and a brief description of the shop or workroom. Where and what will you be sewing.

2. The Products- will you offer a fabric section or notions and supplies.

3. The Market & Advertisement-how do you intend to market your business? Building a website is a very popular way to advertise today. If I had my shop today building a website would be myfirst marketing expense in my business plan. I I may recommend SBI everything is inclusive. SBI built this site, well actually I built it, they gave me the instruction. I'm 60 years old, if I can do it you can too!

If you choose e-Learning you can have your business on line in 10-12 weeks.

4. Mission Statement -what is your intent with your sewing business, what interest does it serve for you, your employees. What is the value it brings to you and the people you serve.

5. Potential Income- what do you estimate your income will be for the first year, second year. What is the 5 year projection.

Price your jobs properly in order to estimate your expected annual income.

6. Budget-estimate your rent, utilities, supplies, advertisement.

Conclusion

Those are a few suggestion, each step to your basic business plan is of equal importance to the success of your business.

If you are still a bit puzzled with which step to do first try a professional service. For around $40 you can get the help you need putting the pieces together.
